Aims & Obejctives

Our Mission

Currently there are no other organisations that provide the services and support that this community require. To date we have 438 members and a waiting list 70 people wishing to join the organisation.

Under the charitable laws of England and Wales the Executive Committee have granted charitable status to SSDC50plus to support and benefit the Gujarati Hindu communities over the age of 50 years. This organisation will aim to:

  • Help and support Gujarati Hindu Community of both genders
  • Reduce the perception of discrimination amongst wide range of public services for elderly
  • Provide services to improve quality of life
  • Support elderly parents who are looking after disabled children and improve environments
  • Support all major achievements by members

We would like to commission a purpose built venue for future activity. The premises would be home to the SSDC 50 plus charity, but would also be available for members to hire for their own family events. From the income received from venue hire we would be able increase the number of members and open our doors to younger members of the community who may wish to be involved. It would also reduce the number of grants we apply for to allow the charity to continue. We are currently looking for investors and charitable donations to assist in this process.
